Life at The Heroes Group

The Heroes Group is an accounting firm with a fresh approach to supporting startups and small businesses with all things finance related. We think outside the box for our clients. We strive to have proactive discussions with our clients, being as transparent as possible to give them the information they need in a way they understand to make productive decisions about the growth of their business.

 

We are a cloud-based firm, and that allows us to be a little less traditional and a little more flexible. We are tech-savvy virtual accountants who love ice cream. What it’s like to be a Sidekick

Our clients are our Heroes and we are their Sidekicks. Sidekicks may specialize in one area, but are familiar with all the ways we support our Heroes. Sidekicks spend a lot of time at headquarters, but it’s important to us that we can get our mission done from anywhere. Our Heroes are located all around the world, so flexibility is important.

 

It is our goal to maintain a strict level of confidentiality with our Heroes and their information. We love the diversity among our Heroes and always learn something new and exciting. Sidekicks often manage multiple projects and clients, so they are big fans of time management and comfortable with tight deadlines. 

 

We operate at our best when we work as a team. Happy Team = Happy Clients. Sidekicks constantly think outside the box. They love testing the boundaries of software and how it works with our accounting software (and other platforms). We are always seeking better ways to automate tasks whenever possible. 

Available Positions

Part Time | Tax Accountant

Your Mission (Responsibilities)

Accounting

Prepare Client Financial Statements & Management Reports. These include:

  • Reconciliation of bank, credit card and financial accounts
  • Maintain and review general ledger, accounts receivable and accounts payable
  • Prepare month end close reports
  • Maintain inventory, fixed assets and/or amortization/depreciation schedules
  • Make corrections and journal entries as needed
  • Provide recommendations based on financial trends
  • Assess software add-ons when applicable and their integration with Xero
  • Troubleshoot integration issues

 

Payroll & Billing

  • Payroll filing per client schedule
  • Accounts payable per client schedule

 

Tax

  • Prepare corporate and personal income tax filings including federal and state income tax, sales tax, local income/property tax and maintain tax asset schedule
  • Organize workpapers and manage open items, following up as appropriate
  • Code accounts from Xero for import into UltraTax

Bonus Points

  • BS/BA in Accounting, Tax or Finance
  • Income tax experience; public and industry experience, with e-commerce
  • Xero Certification

Intern | Accounting and/or Tax

Your Mission (Responsibilities)

Fall & Spring Semesters | 20+ Hours Per Week

 

Accounting

Assist in preparing Client Financial Statements & Management Reports. This includes providing support with:

Assist and support our Certified Public Accountants with:

  • Preparing corporate and personal income tax filings including federal and state income tax, sales tax, local income/property tax and maintain tax asset schedule
  • Assist with organizing workpapers and manage open items, following up as appropriate
  • Code accounts from Xero for import into UltraTax
